I am trying to produce a mixed media (poetry, photo, prose and sound) text (a book, essentially, with an accompanying CD, god willing) based on rural life in former Communist republics and dealing with themes of origin, linguistic isolation and development, and popular response to the prevailing instability.
I have already traveled to Georgia (and, briefly Armenia)
This summer the plan is to go to Romania and live in a very rural setting. I will be participating in an archaeological excavation for some of the time.
This blog follows the work in progress as time goes on; it also does some other things.
